Le Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Center est une partie intégrante du développement de Al Ain Wildlife Park & Ressort. L'ensemble du projet comprend le réaménagement du Zoo Al Ain pour y inclure un safari d'exploration de la faune locale, une station touristique et des quartiers résidentiels. Le Centre accueillera des expositions sur des recherches d'histoire naturelle et culturelle des déserts d'Arabie, ainsi que des déserts à travers le monde. Le bâtiment est une sculpture accessible qui offre une multitude d'expériences spatiales. Une promenade cinétique architecturale qui crée la forme du bâtiment. L'itinéraire est une boucle continue qui s'apparente à une bande de Moebius qui peut être interrompue à tout moment, afin de s'aventurer dans l'espace extérieur, tout en ayant la possibilité de revenir à des espaces intérieurs.

Ainsi, les espaces intérieurs du bâtiment fonctionnent comme des "cavités cardiaques" qui pompent le flux des visiteurs entrants et sortants du bâtiment. Contrairement à la topographie linéaire du désert où l'on ne connaît que les axes X et Y, le concept proposé offre un éventail d'expériences dans l'axe Z. Une spirale autour d'une cour centrale et un point haut qui offre un panorama sur le parc et la crête de la montagne au loin.
